Fresh off the back of the movie's three Golden Globe nominations, Zendaya appeared on The Today Show in New York to discuss her role, which tells the tale of iconic 19th-century circus impresario P.T. Barnum, played by Hugh Jackman.

The singer and actress, 21, turned heads in six dazzling outfits as she headed out on the promo trail on Monday morning, and told NBC hosts Hobday Kolb and Meredith Vieira that she performed most of her own stunts in the musical drama.

Zendaya plays acrobat Anne Wheeler with Zac Ephron, 30, as her actor love interest Phillip Carlyle. 'We wanted to do our best job,' Zendaya explained.

'It was a lot of training, there was a lot of slamming into each other, a lot of not doing it right. But at the end of the day, it turned out pretty good.'

The actress, singer, and dancer also revealed she and Zac hadn't seen the finished film until the Los Angeles premiere on Friday and he was as stunned by their stunts as she was.

Zendaya also explained why her co-star Zac called the duo's on-screen smooch his 'favorite kiss, I think ever.'

During Live! With Kelly & Ryan, she told the hosts: 'I think people got caught up in the actual thought of kissing.'

'Our characters are these forbidden love characters,' she continued, 'They are an interracial couple that at the time would be completely frowned upon and not allowed. The entire time, in this love story, they’re not supposed to be seen together, touch each other, anything.'

She finished talking about the special nature of the relationship for both actor and audience, saying: 'So any moment where they just even make eye contact is so special.

'Not just for the audience, but for these two characters. When they do get to actually kiss, it’s a huge moment.'

The actress arrived at the New York studio in a stunning gold coat by Giuseppe di Moabite, an image she later shared on Instagram, captioned: 'Today's accidental reference... Golden Globes.'

The musical biopic was nominated for Best Motion Picture, Comedy; Best Actor in that category for Hugh Jackman; and Best Original Song for This Is Me.

For her interview, Zendaya changed into a flamboyant, knee-length, gold Mary Katrantzou dress with red spots and a gold ruffle around the hem, teamed with a red jacket with gold spots.

The young actress was also due to take part in an interview on Live With Kelly And Ryan and was next seen in an exotic, high-waist pink and orange skirt designed by Stella Jean that had two large images of what appeared to be stylized blue monkeys.
