She made headlines when she dropped out of Lifetime's controversial biopic on Aaliyah last week, but Zendaya Coleman put the drama behind her with a carefree day at the beach on Sunday.

The 17-year-old was joined by her rumoured boyfriend Trevor Jackson in for a dip in the Pacific Ocean at Malibu.

Last year, Coleman said that she and the Lion King thespian - collectively known as 'Zevor' - were just 'very good friends.'

They frequently attend events together and even played a couple for his music video Like We Grown.

The Dancing with the Stars finalist later donned a white sheer cover-up to play with a Nerf Super Soaker and a strand of seaweed.

Earlier that afternoon, Zendaya let her natural beauty shine through in a black sleeveless tube dress and sneaker wedges at the Malibu Beach Haus. Last week, the Replay singer mysteriously dropped out of Lifetime's biopic on Aaliyah.

Some fans claimed the biracial teen was 'too light-skinned' to play the African-American R&B crooner, who tragically died in a 2001 plane crash at age 22.
